Miramar Sailing School’s Yachtmaster “Xpress” Package is probably the most comprehensive RYA/MCA Yachtmaster training programme available. From January 2nd 2017 for 17 weeks.
This package contains:
STCW 10 – essential for those with ambitions in the Super Yacht industry. This course includes First Aid which is essential for Yachtmaster Examination, and Personal Sea Survival which a requirement for Commercial Endorsement. STCW 10 is an optional element in the Package.
RYA Competent Crew – basic practical sail training.
SRC (VHF) Radio – a must have for Yachtmaster Examination.
PPR – Personal Practices & Responsibilities – another essential for Commercial Endorsement.
RYA Day Skipper Theory – the first step to becoming a yacht skipper.
RYA Day Skipper Practical – putting the theory into practice and reaching the level for eligibility to apply for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) which is widely regarded as the “passport” to bare boat chartering.
RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Theory – more advanced theory knowledge for offshore sailing.
Mile & Experience Building 4 weeks – putting the theory into practice in more testing conditions than Day Skipper.
RYA Coastal Skipper Practical – offshore passage making and overnight sailing.
The RORC Caribbean 600 Offshore Race – a real adventure and ideal proving ground for your offshore sailing knowledge and experience.
Diesel Engine Maintenance – getting down and dirty with the auxiliary power unit.
Power Boat level 2 – and important qualification for dinghy and Super Yacht tender driving.
Radar – soon to become an essential requirement for Yachtmaster Offshore.
More Mile & Experience Building 6 weeks – logging those essential tidal miles for Yachtmaster Examination qualifying criteria around the beautiful islands of the Grenadines.
RYA Coastal Skipper Practical – finally achieving the qualification that all that offshore sailing has been leading to.
RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Examination Preparation with Examination – the culmination of what the previous 15 weeks have all been about.

HI Brian. I am very interested in doing the above course. I have made enquiries to do this exact same course in South Africa and was wondering what the cost would be for your course. Of course as an American I would prefer not to travel all the way to South Africa and so would be most appreciative of all and anybody advice and information you may have with regards your course.

I agree, Antigua is a lot closer than South Africa. If we are more expensive for a comparable course, maybe the flight saving will offset that.
